What To Expect On Your First Visit To Inova

Please arrive about 10 minutes early so that you have enough time to fill out a New Patient form.

    The full treatment cost must be paid at the time of your appointment. We accept payment by cash, debit or most major credit cards.

  • New Patient Exam

    Initial Examination

    A Inova dentist will begin by reviewing your medical and dental history and completing a comprehensive dental exam. Your exam will include a thorough examination of your gums, teeth, bite and jaw, an oral cancer screening and any required X-rays.

    Recommendation Plan

    Based on your history and examination, we'll develop a long-term dental treatment plan for you, and answer any questions you have about your oral health.

  • Can I book for my whole family at once?

    Absolutely. We're a family dental clinic and welcome patients of all ages, from young children to adults. Just let us know when booking and we'll do our best to schedule everyone together.

  • How far in advance do I need to book?

    It varies depending on availability, but we recommend calling ahead to secure a time that works for you. For urgent dental concerns, let us know and we'll do our best to see you promptly.

  • What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

    Life happens — we get it. Please call our office as soon as possible if you need to change your appointment so we can offer that time to another patient.

  • Do you offer care in languages other than English?

    Yes! Our team speaks English, French, and Arabic, so you'll always feel comfortable and fully understand what's happening at every step.

  • What if I don't have insurance?

    No insurance? No problem. We'll walk you through the costs before any treatment begins, and our team can advise on programs like the CDCP that may help make care more affordable.

  • How often should I come in for a checkup?

    Most patients benefit from a checkup and cleaning every 4-6 months. Depending on your oral health needs, your dentist may recommend a different schedule — we'll let you know what's right for you.

  • Do I need to bring anything?

    If you have dental insurance, bring your insurance card or plan details. If you have existing dental records or X-rays from a previous dentist, those are helpful but not required.

  • How do I know which location I'm booking at?

    Each location has its own icon to help you tell them apart. Our Bank St. location uses a Moth icon and our Orleans location uses a Butterfly icon. Make sure you confirm which location you're booking at before finalizing your appointment.

  • Do you use the latest dental technology?

    Yes! We invest in the latest dental technology to make your appointments faster, more comfortable, and with fewer surprises. From 3D scanning to water cleaning, we use the best tools available because we want to provide you with the best experience possible.

  • What age should my child have their first visit?

    We recommend bringing your child in around their first birthday or within 6 months of their first tooth appearing. Early visits help us monitor teeth development.
